Yoga Instructor Training to Study Healing Methods

What would be the ultimate healing method to learn in yoga instructor training? Ultimately, Yoga is a family of many healing modalities. In essence, the goal of Yoga is to give you a sense of ever-present calm and presence. Indeed, this peacefulness naturally arises from the study, practice, philosophy, and lifestyle changes as a result of Yoga practice. In fact, Yoga teacher training takes you to the next level of study. In the long run, you learn how to share information with others by providing instructions centers.

Complementary Healing Methods

While Yoga is a healing art in itself, many Yoga instructor training programs and schools may include the study of complementary healing methods. The spirit of Yoga and studying the art of wellness definitely go very well together. Of course, Ayurveda is often discussed in teacher training. Reiki uses the same chakra system and beliefs run parallel to the concepts we learn about energy pathways. In fact, QiGong resembles Yoga in many ways.

Different Yoga Styles

There are many schools of Yoga, and while some schools may teach you a variety of asanas from different styles. However, some styles may strictly specialize in following the practices of a specific school. Below are some of the different types of Yoga that you might learn in a Yoga instructor program.

Hatha Yoga Training

Hatha Yoga is traditional yoga and consists of slow, gentle, conscious movements that rejuvenate internal organs while building flexibility, balance, and strength. The Hatha Yoga system is a very comprehensive and complete system that covers all aspects of human development. It is a system that can be used by anyone, regardless of their age, gender, or physical condition. The Hatha Yoga system includes both the physical and mental aspects of Yoga. The physical aspect includes the practice of asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing exercises). The mental aspect includes the practice of concentration, visualization, and meditation.

Vinyasa Yoga Courses

Vinyasa Yoga focuses on flow, movement, speed, and breath awareness. It is ideal for restless-natured students (rajasic) who like Western aerobics. Vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga that emphasizes breath-synchronized movement. In Vinyasa Yoga, each movement is connected to either an inhalation or an exhalation. The result is a flowing, dynamic, and energetic practice. Vinyasa Yoga is often used as a form of exercise, but it can also be used as a tool for relaxation and stress relief.

Power Yoga Certification

Power Yoga is a dynamic style. Students gracefully move from one pose to another in a sequential pattern. Usually, the practice will begin with Sun Salutations. Along with the flow of movement from one asana into the next, the link to breath is emphasized. Over time, Power Yoga builds remarkable flexibility, as well as strength and stamina.

Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Obviously, Yin Yoga is a style that is focused on healing the body. It uses gentle, slow movements to stretch and strengthen the muscles and connective tissues. In brief, this type of Yoga is great for people who are looking to heal their bodies from injuries or who want to relax and de-stress. Yin Yoga is also a great way to learn about your body and how it works.

Restorative Yoga Certification

It is important to realize that Restorative Yoga is based on honoring the body and its propensities by holding postures longer. Given these points, the emphasis is on breath during movement and a sense of alignment. In short, this form of Yoga requires much mental focus and develops emotional calm and spiritual renewal.

Different Healing Methods

The healing methods that complement yoga training are divided into three main classifications: bodywork, energy healing, and sound healing. There are many different healing methods available for study. Yoga instructors can choose to focus on one or more of these methods in order to help their students achieve optimum health. Some of the most popular healing methods include acupuncture, massage therapy, and aromatherapy. Each of these modalities has been proven to be effective in treating a variety of conditions. By studying different healing methods, Yoga instructors can provide their students with a well-rounded approach to achieving optimum health.

Bodywork

There are numerous forms of bodywork, including the following deep tissue massage, Swedish therapeutic massage, couples massage, hot stone massage, prenatal massage, reflexology, acupressure massage, craniosacral therapy, and Zen massage. One of the things you’ll learn about in Yoga instructor training is bodywork. This encompasses a range of techniques designed to work with the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems of the body. It can help with everything from relieving pain to improving the range of motion. You’ll learn about different types of bodywork and how to apply them safely and effectively.

Energy Healing

Again, like bodywork, there are numerous energy healing modalities, with Reiki one of the most popular choices. Truly, energy healing is a type of alternative medicine that is based on the belief that there is an unseen “life force” that flows through all living things. For example, this life force is what gives us our vitality and energy. To explain, when this life force is blocked or out of balance, it can lead to physical, emotional, or mental problems. Energy healers use a variety of techniques to unblock and balance the flow of this life force. For instance, these techniques include Reiki, acupuncture, and massage.

Sound Healing

Sometimes, sound has been found to increase energy, improve mental clarity, and relieve chronic stress. Music is a form of sound healing and is a method of using sound vibrations to heal the body. As teachers, we try our best to make all of our students happy. Nevertheless, you can expect one student to object to sound and music. Ordinarily, your class description informs students about what they should expect in your sessions.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is one of the healing methods that you will likely learn about in Yoga instructor training. To clarify, aromatherapy uses essential oils to promote relaxation and well-being. However, some students will object to essential oils and/or being touched. Therefore, we offer aromatherapy as an option to students during a guided meditation and/or relaxation.

Summary

It is advisable to choose the type of Yoga instructor training that appeals to your natural inclinations rather than choosing one based on external values—like popularity or profitability. Some people, for example, have very active natures (rajasic) and benefit from the fast Yoga and bodywork healing arts. Conversely, others have a contemplative nature (sattvic) and will benefit from calming forms of Yoga and healing arts.
