How Yoga Can Help With Anxiety

How Yoga Can Help With AnxietyBy Gopi Rao

Do you want to learn how yoga can help with anxiety? One out of four adults will experience anxiety at some point during their lives. Anxiety disorders are sometimes accompanied by panic attacks, and these intense feelings of panic that can come out of nowhere can knock you off your feet.

Panic attacks can include a pounding heart, dizziness, shallow breathing and sweating, and living with it all the time is very difficult. There are of course a range of techniques that can be used to help you to minimize your anxiety. From using Urb gummies to therapy, there are ways that you can help to dampen the anxiety down and feel good insight.

Yoga Can Help With Anxiety Management

You should also consider the way that you move your body and how you manage your anxiety. Movement and exercise may not be the first thing that you consider when it comes to anxiety, but it can really make a big difference to your physical and mental health while pulling down those feelings of panic. Yoga is one of the best things that you could do if you are feeling anxious, so let’s take a look at the reasons why yoga can help.

1. Controlled Breathing

You’re forced to focus on your breathing. During a panic attack, you make short, shallow breaths and this can make the panic attack worse because it can make you feel lightheaded and faint. When you are doing yoga, you are forced to concentrate on your breathing and learn how to take a deep breath. When you’re feeling tired or particularly difficult, focusing on taking those deep, slow breaths can make all the difference to you.

2. Release Endorphins

You get that endorphin release. Yoga, much like all other forms of exercise, gives you endorphins. These neurotransmitters in the brain have been shown to improve your mood, reduce symptoms of depression, and relieve stress and anxiety. Endorphins are an all natural antidepressant and if you engage in exercise, you’re going to feel happier as a result. Who doesn’t want that in a world where anxiety is king?

3. Relieve Tension

You can relieve your muscle tension. When you’re feeling anxious or stressed, we often tighten certain areas of our bodies without even noticing it. Prolonged stress or anxiety can lead to pain and muscle tension in the back, head, neck, shoulders, and other areas. Yoga can help you to improve your posture while releasing that muscle tension. It strengthens, lengthens and relaxes those sore muscles.

4. Build Confidence

Yoga is a challenge when you’re feeling anxious. Being able to push yourself and engage yourself in something that’s more challenging than the anxiety attacks your feeling will give you more confidence and faith in yourself than you’ve ever had before. When things become uncomfortable, you are forced to focus on your breathing and then you can move through it.

5. Sense of Community

The community focus. Since yoga focuses on community, you get to surround yourself with other people who may even be going through the same anxious feelings that you are. Anxious people often isolate themselves, and instead of having this feeling of isolation and loneliness, engaging in the yoga class can be a big way to meet other people and develop that sense of community that you’re missing.

6. Self-Care

You take time out for yourself. It’s not always easy to release those panic and anxiety attacks. In fact, it can be downright difficult to let go of a panic attack when you are in that mental space. By distracting yourself with yoga, you’re taking time out for yourself, and this gives you a moment to pause. Anxiety and feelings of panic will be lessened because you are giving yourself a moment to breathe. It all comes back to being able to focus your energies elsewhere.

7.  Overall Well-Being

It will make you feel healthier. Because you’re engaging in movement and you are able to feel that benefit immediately, you’re going to feel healthier and more confident within yourself when you do yoga with other therapies, medications, and holistic options. You can improve the anxiety that you’re feeling and stop feeling panicky all the time.

Yoga Can Help With Anxiety

Yoga is one of the most effective ways that you can reduce your stress and anxiety. It helps you to focus on your breathing, relieves muscle tension, and allows you to release endorphins. On top of that, you’ll gain confidence and be a part of a community, which can help you feel less isolated and happier as a result. If you’ve never tried yoga before, now is the time to start, especially if you’re dealing with panic attacks on a daily basis.
