Yoga for Revitalization

about yoga for revitalizationBy Jenny Park

How long do the the effects of yoga for revitalization last? The practice of yoga allows us, as teachers and  students, to take time out from our busy lifestyles to recover and revitalize both body and mind. Yoga practice engages the body by challenging muscles and flexibility. Yoga poses and pranayama increase one’s blood flow and oxygen intake. This activity also challenges the mind by focusing and increasing awareness of one’s self. Hatha yoga is a unique form of holistic exercise. Be that as it may, Hatha yoga has revitalizing benefits for both body and mind. The benefits can immediately be gained by anyone regardless of physical ability or level of experience.

Benefits of Revitalizing with Yoga

Yoga’s restorative benefits and injury prevention have long been studied and documented. It’s meditative effects on stress and calming of the mind have been praised by both wellness advocates and doctors alike. Revitalizing with yoga is a gradual process. Students who first begin practicing often feel like it is nothing more than a series of uncomfortable stretching movements and controlled breathing exercises.

Practice Leads to Change

On the other hand, some students notice subtle changes right away. However, after continued practice they all begin to realize that yoga for revitalization is more than just challenging the body. Additionally, it is more about controlling the mind. Through practice, one develops the intuition to stop and listen to one’s self and his or her surroundings. As students continue their journey, the learn to work patiently and gradually challenge themselves, when they are ready for the next hurdle.

Built in Challenges

By challenging both mind and body, Hatha yoga training is able to provide restorative and revitalizing properties of other physical forms of activity without the high impact and stress of other physical activities, or the anxiety that comes with just starting out. Often, there are times when new students find solace in the collective energy of a room full of other new comers to the practice of yoga for revitalization, and are more likely to continue with their practice knowing that each of us has a personal yogic path.

Long-Term Effects

Moreover, the effects of yoga for revitalization do not necessarily end when the class instruction concludes. Asanas and pranayama can be adapted or modified to provide a moment of calm and relaxation during a busy period at the office, or the need to unwind at home. Unlike other activities, which require a large room, gym facility or equipment to participate, yoga practice, and its benefits of revitalizing energy can be obtained with minimal space and equipment.

  1. Hi Jenny, This post about yoga for revitalization is really useful. My daughter’s doctor recommended her to start yoga for spinal pain relief. And she got much better after the first month. The rest of our family has begun to practice at home. We read the articles and practice with the videos on this blog. As an older student, I love the lectures too! Thank you and the Aura Team for producing so much fresh information over the past 17 years!
